Huandao Jiaolong, the world's largest tourism submersible began its trial run in Yalong Bay of Sanya city, South China's Hainan province, on Dec 14, 2015. Developed by a research center under the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), Huandao Jiaolong was designed for tourism, exploration and adventure travel. Unlike usual submersibles whose cabins are made of metal, Huandao Jiaolong is made of polymethyl methacrylate, and equipped with life-support and navigation control systems.

Huandao Jiaolong dives into the sea in Yalong Bay of Sanya city, South China's Hainan province, Dec 14, 2015. Capable of reaching 40 meters under water, the submersible can accommodate up to 12 people at a time, while other such submersibles from the rest of the world can only hold 5 at most.

Huandao Jiaolong is lifted up from its carrier, before diving into the deep sea in Yalong Bay of Sanya city, South China's Hainan province, Dec 14, 2015. Huandao Jiaolong is one of a series of "Jiaolong" submersibles. The deep-sea submersible Jiaolong can dive to a depth of over 7,000 meters, having the greatest depth range of any manned research vehicle in the world
