This is a 2-axis CNC machine designed primarily for chamfering the shift gears in the gear boxes used for automobiles. Disc-type gears and ring gears with sharp corners and round corners can be accommodated on this machine. Carbide alloy cutters are mechanically clamped on the machine. The machine is modular-designed and horizontally arranged, and equipped with a full-enclosure. The working principle of the machine is intermittent tooth to tooth chamfering. The machine equipped with a SIEMENS 802D 2-axis CNC system chamfers simultaneously the teeth on both sides symmetrical about the center of the gear being machined with two face milling cutters. The feed motion of the machine is performed by the workpiece. After one tooth is finished, the workpiece relieves and indexes for chamfering the next tooth. Characterized by high efficiency, simple cutter, optimized machining quality, and easy adjustment and operation, the machine can meet the needs for both small lot trial production of new products and mass production.
